About

Ammon, named as a play-on-words of the ancient cephalopod and the word of prayer amen, are sculptural home goods on which to set intention to.  It is a reminder of the landscape
and warmth of home, no matter how close or far away you might be.

Ammon Lights are a visually provocative testament to the transcendence of beauty through time via the fossils of Ammonites. Ammonites, long extinct, hold an elegant record of evolution's artistic hand. Now mined, gathered, sorted, scavenged, and unearthed, these treasures from the past are collected and preserved with curious fascination. The forms created by ancient cephalopods have existed in the past, will exist in the future, and are firmly cemented in the now.

Ammon embodies the collision of oceanic forms in unexpected places. Ammon lights take reference from the Devonian fossil run in Up-State New York and the coast of the Pacific Northwest. These fossils exist as archival documents of the beginning of existence, after being lifted out of the ocean by tectonic shifts and transformed over eons by heat, pressure, and time. Now, Ammonites originate out of zones of specified abundance allowing one to collect them from the unique assemblage in a way that feels intimate, yet non-intrusive.

The interplay of light and shadow, cast by the geometrically inspired designs, serve as a reminder of the dynamic relationship between Ammonites and the forces of nature. Softly lit resin supported by smooth wood, juxtapose the found object with the driftwood it can be found among. Therefore, Ammon lights become incredibly sight specific while feeling naturally abundant.
